Geocoding

Geo-Coding & Geo-Targeting

Strategic Demographic Targeting & Analysis

Geo-Coding & Geo-Targeting have become quite the buzz words. There are many ways you can geo-code data to target users with specific content. Doing so can provide a much more custom and enjoyable experience to your users, and as a result help drive traffic; ergo increase sales, or ad inventory. The following is a short list of some examples of how we've implemented geo-coded content:

Business Listings
Many of our clients create search tools to allow their users to locate restaurants, shops, bars, hotels, etc. By geo-coding each listing, or assigning each address a longitude and latitude (usually accurate to within 2-3 meters) we can allow users to locate the business listings near them, or near the hotel where they're staying.

Imagine you're on a business trip to Boston and you're staying at a hotel downtown. You want to locate the best Sushi restaurant near your hotel. Mmmm! Then you may want to locate the nearest Bar or Movie Theater for an after-dinner treat! Wait, you don't know where these places are? Simple... click on the 'Map' icon to show your hotel and the other destinations you're planning on visiting. We've built several business listings systems for our clients that do exactly that.

Oh... and when you're done with Sushi, you can come back to the site and give a review and rating of the Sushi you just ate!

Real Estate Listings / 'Best Places to Live'
We have extensive experience integrating with MLS database providers. Using this data we've built very interactive tools for users to locate homes they might be interested in buying. These searches can be refined by price, location, real estate officer, homes nearest your new office, homes nearest the school you'd like your children to attend, or any other possible refinement.

But wait!! You might be interested in knowing what bars, shopping malls, or Sushi restaurants near that home. No problem!

Custom Polygons (i.e. Neighborhoods, Burroughs, Regions, etc.)
Several of our clients provide business listings that are bound geographically to a specific region. For example: you might provide business listings for the Philadelphia area. But, Philly has some very specific regions. i.e. Chestnul Hill, Chinatown/Loft District, Fishtown, etc. How do you dynamically geo-code this data to specific regions in the Philly area? We provide our clients with tools to allow them to draw these 'custom polygons' over a map of the area. We then extract these polygons, input the coordinates in to the system that we build for you and dynamically assign your listings to these polygons.

These custom polygons can be as specific as you require, i.e.; one side of the street can be in one polygon and the other side in another.

Visitors Guides
Leveraging geo-coded listings systems, we've built Visitor Guides for cities including New York City, Boston, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City and more.

Your imagination is the only limit to what you can do with geo-coded content!

Maps
Over the years, we've become familiar with virtually every online mapping system (Google, Yahoo, Mapquest, Tele Atlas, Navteq, etc.). We've integrating with the APIs built by these map providers in just about every way you can. You can overlay waypoints on to maps, driving directions, logos and address information, and distance from your departure to your destination, etc.
